IMDEA researchers participate in COST action FLARETEX

The High Performance Nanocomposites group lead by Dr. De-Yi Wang participates in COST action MP1105: Sustainable flame retardancy for textiles and related materials based on nanoparticles substituting conventional chemicals (FLARETEX). Dr. De-Yi Wang was appointed as the National Representative from Spain in 2013 for this COST action that will create an international scientific and technology network on sustainable flame retardancy, developing new innovative flame retardants with low fire toxicity and environmental impacts. COST Actions, funded by the European Commission and the European Science Foundation, are an intergovernmental framework for European cooperation in science and technology.

Under the support of COST MP1105, a training school that aims to coordinate and network the on-going efforts and capabilities across Europe for the risk management of fire and fire safety in the area of polymer composites has been approved. This training school is organized by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management of University of Porto (INEGI)  from 26th to 29th of March 2014. Two predoctoral researchers from IMDEA Materials Institute, Mr. Ehsan Naderi Kalali and Ms. Xiaomin Zhao have been awarded with a mobility research grant to attend this training school
