Dr. Vignesh Babu Heeralal completed his master degree in Chemistry at Madurai Kamaraj University, India in 2006. His master’s research related to the synthesis of heterocyclic chemistry via a tandem ring opening and oxidation process. After his post-graduation, he worked in research and development unit of Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India. As a researcher there, he was involved in the syntheses of active pharmaceutical ingredients of β-lactam antibiotics and process development in the period of June 2006 to February 2008. He has obtained three patents during his industrial experience.
Dr. Vignesh Babu obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Hyderabad, India in 2014. His PhD thesis was entitled “Synthesis of metal complexes and their catalysis: Polymers for Li-ion conductivity as solid polymer electrolytes”. His PhD research focused on the syntheses of new solid polymer electrolytes and exploring their ionic conductivities for applications in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
In May 2014, he joined the High Performance Nanocomposites group at in IMDEA Materials Institute to work in novel fire retardant polymers.
