Javier LLorca was presented with the Magnesium Science & Technology Annual Award given by the International Magnesium Society for his\u00a0contributions to advance the understanding of microstructure-deformation mechanisms in wrought Mg alloys using in situ mechanical testing and machine learning, to develop novel modeling tools for simulating deformation and corrosion effects, and to create innovative Mg\/PEO composites for biomedical applications<\/p>\n
In addition, the paper entitled \u201cOrigin of nucleation and growth of extension twins in grains unsuitably oriented for twinning during deformation of Mg-1%Al\u201d by Biaobiao Yang and Javier LLorca, that was published in the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys, 12, 1186-1203 (2024), received the award to the excellent paper published on magnesium in the last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
