LLorca, Acta Materialia, 278, 120231, 2024 has received the award to the Excellent Paper of the Year by the International Magnesium Society.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second year in a row that one paper co-authored by members of the Bio\/Chemo\/Mechanics of Materials research group recieves this award. The last year award \u00a0was given to the paper &#8220;Origin of nucleation and growth of extension twins in grains unsuitably oriented for twinning during deformation of Mg-1%Al&#8221; by B. Yang and J.
