Javier LLorca, elected Fellow of the Materials Research Society

Prof. Javier LLorca has been elected fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS). The status of Fellow is awarded to outstanding members of the MRS whose sustained and distinguished contributions to the advancement of materials research are internationally recognized.

The Fellow award was given to Prof. LLorca on April 24th at the Spring Meeting of the MRS held in Phoenix, Arizona in recognition “for his contributions to the development and industrial implementation of multiscale modeling strategies in structural materials and for his leadership as founder and director of the IMDEA Materials Institute”.

The Materials Research Society is an organization of materials researchers that promotes communication for the advancement of interdisciplinary materials research and technology to improve the quality of life. It currently includes over 14,500 researchers from 90 countries working in industry, academia and national labs with a multidisciplinary background that includes chemistry, biology, physics and engineering. The total numbers of Fellows at a given time is capped to 0.2% of the Society membership. It is intended that by representing excellence in science and engineering and dedication to the advancement of materials research, the MRS Fellows will exemplify the highest ideals of accomplishment and service embodied in the MRS Mission
