New projects supported by Argonne National Laboratory

The Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne National Laboratory (USA) has approved two new research projects of the Mechanics of Materials research group. The Center for Nanoscale Materials will provide 2.66 million hours of supercomputer CPU time to perform atomistic simulations of precipitate-strengthening for optimum design for light alloys for green transportation. These projects are the continuation of the project ATOM DESIGN on the same topic supported by the Center for Nanoscale Materials during 2017-2018.

The main objectives of these new projects are to devoted to the determination of phase diagrams of binary alloys from first principles calculations and to the analysis of dislocation/precipitate interactions using atomistic simulations.
