Members of the group take part in the 2nd European School on Advanced Materials (ESAM2025)

On March 10th, members of our research group participated in the 2nd European School on Advanced Materials (ESAM2025) in Almagro, Ciudad Real. Our group leader, Dr. Juan José Vilatela, was invited to deliver a full course on Assembly and Large-Scale Application of Nanomaterials as the Polymers of the 21st Century.” His lecture highlighted key advancements in the scale-up, assembly, and applications of oriented macrostructures, emphasizing their potential impact on other 1D nanomaterials, such as silicon nanowires.

Additionally, research associate Dr. David Tilve Martínez gave an oral presentation showcasing our latest findings on the self-assembly of silicon nanowires into ordered macrostructures via a liquid crystal route.

The school provided valuable insights into nanomaterials and supramolecular assembly, exploring their role in crucial applications such as hydrogen production, drug delivery, CO₂ capture, and photocatalysis. Beyond the scientific discussions, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of Almagro and enjoy a private performance of a Comedia de enredo in a truly unique venue: El Corral de Comedias.
