Biography

Raúl is originally from Tenerife, Canary Islands. In 2016 he decide to fly to Barcelona and study a degree on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). His undergraduated thesis was on the determination of the role of negative pressure in the crystallization of CsCl polymorphs, carried out in the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB). This was his first steps in the fiel of simulation and modelization. In 2022, he obtained his Master's degree in Atomistic and Multiscale Computational Modelling in Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and the Universidat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPM). His Master's thesis dealt with the characterization of Mo2C MXenes through Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Kintic Monte Carlo (KMC) simulations at the Institut de Química Teòrica i Computacional de la Universitat de Barcelona(IQTCUB). Also, he has worked in the development of the last version of the PUPIL software, QM/MM simulation software, and in the department of physical chemistry of the Universidad de Alcalá (UAH). He is now enrolled in IMDEA in a PhD position to study the silicon nanowires synthesis, kinetics and growth.
