The new project to study the fundamental mechanisms of hydrogen embrittlement in metals is supported by MIT through the MIT-Spain Universidad Politécnica de Madrid seed fund. The principal investigators are Dr. Ming Dao (MIT ) and Prof. Javier LLorca (UPM).
Biaobiao yang defended his PhD thesis entitled “Influence of the microstructure on the deformation mechanisms of wrought Mg alloys” on April 25th at the Polytechnic University of Madrid
The thesis was supervised by Prof. Javier LLorca and obtained the highest grade “Sobresaliente cum laude”. Congratulations to the new doctor from the Bio/Chemo/Mechanics of Materials group. The doctoral work of Dr. Yang obtained the Acta Materialia Student Award and of the papers published also
Javier LLorca gives the inaugural plenary lecture at the 11th International Conference on Applied Materials and Manufacturing Technology (ICAMMT 2025) in Changsha, China.
The title of the plenary talk was "Manufacturing, mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of Zn and Zn alloys for biomedical applications"
Javier LLorca visits the Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou
The objective of the visit to both institutions in Guangdong was to establish research collaborations between them and IMDEA Materials Institute.
