MULTIFOAM
Multiscale Modeling of the Mechanical Behavior of Polyurethane Foams
Funding: BASF
Principal Investigator: J. LLorca
Duration: 2018-2019
This project will transfer to BASF the multiscale modelling framework developed in the thesis of Dr. M. Marvi-Mashhadi to simulate the mechanical behavior of polyurethane foams. The strategy can take into account the influence of the foam microstructure (density, cell anisotropy, ratio of bulk material between walls and struts, etc.) on the mechanical properties in compression until densification of open and closed-cell s foams, including the effect of gas pressure within the cells in the latter case.
The framework was developed within the framework of the project MODENA (Modelling of morphology Development of micro- and Nano Structures), which was supported by the European Union 7th Framework Programme (NMP4-SL-2013-604271).
