The publication entitled “Effect of precipitates on the dominant active slip systems in Mg-4.5Zn (wt.%) alloy” by B. Yang, J. Wang, M. R. Ghandehari Ferdowsi, Q. Chao, X. Gao, Y. Li, Y. Zhu, M. Barnett, J. LLorca, Acta Materialia, 278, 120231, 2024 has received the award to the Excellent Paper of the Year by the International Magnesium Society.

This is the second year in a row that one paper co-authored by members of the Bio/Chemo/Mechanics of Materials research group recieves this award. The last year award  was given to the paper “Origin of nucleation and growth of extension twins in grains unsuitably oriented for twinning during deformation of Mg-1%Al” by B. Yang and J. LLorca, Journal of Magnesium and Alloys, 12, 1186-1203, 2024.
