The Catalysis and Energy Materials (CEM) Research Group was established in September 2024 with a focus on the design and development of customised heterogeneous catalysts for key transformations and energy-related catalytic conversion processes. Our main emphasis is on fundamental target reactions such as water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen, conversion of CO₂ to prebiotic compounds, and catalytic plastic recycling to value-added chemicals. We are also exploring the design of novel nanostructured halide perovskite structures and investigating their distinctive photocatalytic properties for model reactions, as well as their potential for chemical recycling of plastic waste.
