Paula Alvaredo Olmos

Paula Alvaredo holds a degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where she also obtained her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. As a researcher, she stayed at the Catholic University of Leuven and at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne and has been a postdoctoral researcher at IMDEA Materials.

Her research interests are in the field of cermets and cemented carbides, high entropy alloys and eutectic alloys. All his main lines of research focus on powder metallurgy technology. Within the framework of powder metallurgy, she has worked on the design of new compositions using thermodynamic simulation methods, powder characterisation and consolidation by conventional PM routes and Additive Manufacturing techniques. Throughout her career Paula Alvaredo has participated in fifteen international and national projects. She has published forty scientific articles and has co-authored more than forty contributions in international and national conferences.

She is an associate professor at UC3M and her teaching focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the area of materials science and engineering. She is currently the director of the PhD programme in Materials Science and Engineering at UC3M.
