On October 23, 2025, the BCD Group had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Joana Loureiro from the Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE), Universidade do Porto (Portugal), who delivered an inspiring seminar entitled “Challenges in the Design and Development of Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Disease Treatment.”

During her visit, Prof. Loureiro shared valuable insights into the design principles and emerging strategies that are shaping the next generation of drug delivery platforms. Her talk highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches combining materials science, biology, and engineering to improve therapeutic precision and efficacy.

Following the seminar, Dr. Maciej Haranczyk, Principal Investigator of the RoboMat Group, and Dr. Mónica Echeverry Rendón, Principal Investigator of the BCD Group, met with Prof. Loureiro to discuss potential areas for future collaboration in the development of advanced materials and computational tools for biomedical applications.
