Accesibility

In the development of the www.imdea.org web site, several measures have been taken in order to ensure the accessibility of the site. Specifically, the accessibility guidelines corresponding to the AA level checkpoints (priority 1 and 2 of the standard UNE 139803:2004 on Accessibility in Web Contents), pursuant to Royal Decree 1494/2007, approving the Regulation that governs the basic conditions to be fulfilled to ensure the access of the disabled persons to the Information Society services, products and technologies, and to the communication media.

Accessibility enables to:

  • Facilitate access of users regardless of their physical condition or environment.
  • Allow access from different user agents.
  • Include clear and well-structured contents.
  • Improve the browsing and user experience.

Some of the techniques used include:

  • Using style sheets to control the presentation of information.
  • Including alternate text in images.
  • Sticking to the W3C standards.
  • For measurement units, using always relative units, so that the interface can be displayed with different screen configurations and font sizes.
  • The pages in this web site follow a semantic tagging structure. According to the relevance within the text, the content may be represented using the H1, H2, H3 and H4 tags. These heading tags are important, since they represent the relevance of the text withing the whole content.

Non-accessible contents

The HTML contents are accessible and AA-compliant, with the exception of some PDF files.

The applications used for the International Call, as well as for the Call for Predoctoral Positions, are not yet adapted to the above accessibility guidelines.

In case you find any issue with these contents, please contact us through the following address: contacto@imdea.org.

Web testing

This web site has been tested to be correctly displayed in multiple web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, Lynx) and platforms.

In order to ensure the fulfillment of the above levels of compliance of the accessibility guidelines, the web site has been checked by using the TAW (Test de Accesibilidad Web) tool and the Sidar’s Hera tool.
