IMDEA Materials Foundation Statutes
The Statutes of the IMDEA Materials Foundation are the governing rules that define the legal framework, mission, organisation and operation of the Institute. They establish the Foundation’s identity, duration, legal status and guiding principles, while setting out its core purpose: to promote excellent scientific research, technological development and innovation in the field of materials science and engineering. The Statutes also describe how the Foundation carries out its activities, how resources are allocated to fulfil its mission, and how beneficiaries of its work are determined.
In addition, the Statutes regulate the Foundation’s governance structure, including the Board of Trustees (Patronato) as its main governing body, as well as other bodies such as the Scientific Council and executive leadership positions including the Director and Manager. They also establish the economic and financial regime of the Foundation, covering assets, income, budgeting and accountability. Finally, the Statutes set out the procedures for modifying the rules themselves, as well as the conditions for any future merger, dissolution or liquidation of the Foundation.
