Human Resources Excellence in Research

The Human resources strategy for researchers

The ‘HR Strategy for Researchers’ supports research institutions and funding organizations in the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in their policies and practices.

The implementation of the Charter & Code principles by research institutions render them more attractive to researchers looking for a new employer or for a host for their research project.

The European Commission recognizes with the ‘HR Excellence in Research Award’ the institutions which make progress in aligning their human resources policies to the 40 principles of the Charter & Code, based on a customized action plan/HR strategy.

Being fully aware of the importance of the integration of newcomers, the Human Resources (HR) Department at IMDEA provides information and personalized assistance regarding visas, work permits, social security, accommodation, schooling and any other relevant issue for researchers and their families when planning to move to Madrid.

IMDEA Materials Institute is a member of the EURAXESS Services network that has over 250 Service Centres located in 40 European countries. In Spain this network is coordinated by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – FECYT.

As part of its commitment to bring the best researching talent to Madrid, IMDEA Materials Institute endorsed in 2007 the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers that set out the rules and obligations of researchers, their employers and funders, as well as transparent and fair recruitment procedures. The Institute received the ‘HR Excellence in research’ award on October 2015.
