Yesterday, IMDEA Materials Institute received a visit from 12 students from the Sierra Blanca School in Malaga. During their visit they were able to hear the experiences of Estela Izquierdo, Project Management Assistant, and Dr. Mónica Echeverry, Senior Postdoctoral Researcher, about scientific careers and the mission of IMDEA Materials.
In addition, they have been able to explore the research of Ángela de la Camacha, a predoctoral researcher focused on the biomedical applications of 3D printing. They have also learned about biomaterials for tissue engineering from doctoral student Ángela Castro.
“Right now, I think most of us have a lot of doubts about what we want to study, and this has helped us a lot,” said Carla Mendiola, one of the students. Candela Rienda, another of the pupils, highlighted the contribution to medicine of the 3D printing research carried out at IMDEA Materials.
This visit is special since it is the second visit from a school from outside the Community of Madrid and is aligned with our mission of promoting materials science in young people both in Madrid and in the rest of Spain.
