Abstract
The strategy in Zinchronous will consist of different stages in which Zn-alloys will be selected based on preliminary results obtained from the candidate. Then, Zn alloys with the best characteristics will be atomized to obtain samples by Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). Once the powders have been obtained and characterized, the parameters will be studied to obtain structures with different geometries using the LBPD technique. Different morphologies and porosities will be explored. From the literature, it has been reported that Zn does not favor cell growth. Therefore, a coating process will be carried out using the electrolytic oxidation plasma technique, which will generate an oxide layer of the same material in a controlled way that will help its behavior from a biological point of view. A complete characterization will be performed at a physical-chemical, mechanical, and degradation level. Finally, a complete biological validation will be carried out, including two cell groups, one in the cardiovascular line (endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells) and another in bone regeneration (pre-osteoblasts) as well and the antibacterial properties of the alloys will be evaluated. Finally, the degradation of the system and its response to the cells will be tested by applying mechanical forces and flow using a perfusion bioreactor to approach an in vivo situation.
