MINIMAL will contribute significantly towards improving analysis/predictive tools for dislocation-interface interactions in metallic nanolaminates, which have attracted application as mechanical parts in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS). In particular, this project will (i) provide the scientific knowledge behind dislocation-interface interactions, and (ii) establish improved numerical models to predict dislocation-interface failure during service. Moreover, new advanced nanolaminate materials with enhanced properties will also be proposed based on the generated knowledge.
