IMDEA Materials Institute has announced a new call for applications for its 2025 Research Initiation Scholarships.
This programme offers a unique opportunity for young researchers and technologists, allowing them to explore the field of materials science and engineering through a three-month placement at a leading research centre.
This year, IMDEA Materials is offering four positions in cutting-edge research areas:
- Crystal control in synthesis of nanowires for energy applications: – The study and control of nanowire synthesis for energy generation and storage applications.
- Biological characterisation of polymers for healthcare applications: The biological characterisation of polymers designed for healthcare applications.
- Multiscale modelling of dendritic microstructure solidification in superalloys for aeronautics: Multiscale modelling of dendritic microstructure solidification in superalloys used in aeronautics.
- Collaborative robots and laboratory automation in materials discovery: The application of collaborative robots and laboratory automation in the discovery of new materials.
“These scholarships serve as a gateway to the world of materials research, enabling students to develop key skills in a cutting-edge environment and collaborate with experts in high-impact scientific and technological areas,” said Rosa Bazán, the Institute’s Human Resources Manager.
“Additionally, they provide a unique opportunity for participants to familiarise themselves with advanced techniques and contribute to projects addressing real-world challenges in strategic sectors,” she added.
IMDEA Materials’ opportunities within the programme are aimed at university students in their final year of study or master’s students in any scientific discipline related to materials science.
Applicants must have a valid residence permit in Spain.
Those interested can find more information about the available positions and apply through the IMDEA Materials Institute website. The application deadline is April 20.
