Silvia Hernandez defended her PhD thesis entitled “Cure, Defects and Mechanical Performance of Fiber-Reinforced Composites” on March 11th at the Civil Engineering School of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Her work was awarded the highest grade by the PhD committee. Dr. Hernandez´s research consisted on the analysis of the effect of curing cycle on void distribution and the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced polymer composites. This work, supervised by Prof. Javier Llorca and by Prof. Carlos González, was carried out under the framework of the European collaborative project DEFCOM.
