IMDEA Materials participated once again in the ‘Madrid Es Ciencia‘ 2025 Science Fair, held at IFEMA Madrid from March 27th to 29th. This edition, which gathered over 26,000 visitors, has established itself as one of the largest scientific outreach events in the Community of Madrid, and for the fifth consecutive year, our institute had the privilege of being part of this great event.
Nearly 20 researchers from IMDEA Materials were present at our stand throughout three days, where they interacted with thousands of people, from students to professionals, sharing the latest advances in materials science. From 3D printing and shape-memory materials to metallic alloys and biomedical research, our researchers showcased how materials science can have a positive and transformative impact on society.
The Fair featured more than 700 activities and the participation of over 170 entities, including:
• 85 educational institutions
• 10 universities
• 20 research centers
• 12 museums and scientific societies
• 20 start-up companies
Additionally, IMDEA Materials had the honour of hosting prominent figures, such as the Regional Minister of Education, Science, and Universities of the Community of Madrid, Emilio Viciana Duro, who engaged with our researchers on advances in additive manufacturing and biomaterials.
We would like to express our gratitude to all those who made this participation possible, from the Community of Madrid and the Foundation for Knowledge madri+d to the event organisers, and of course, our researchers and visitors.
We especially thank the researchers who represented the Institute: Davide Mocerino, Phuong Vo, Felipe Lozano, Ángela García de la Camacha, Valerio Lampitella, Juan Carlos Babón, Sabina Lachowicz-Wiśniewska, Luis Calero, Aroa Mascaraque, Paula Chonillo, Sofía Fernández, Raúl De Armas Rodríguez, Juan León, Ángela Castro, and Lucía Doyle. Their dedication and commitment were essential to the success of our participation.
We are already counting down the days until the next edition in 2026, where we will continue to show the world the impact of materials science on society.
