Abstract

The aim of this project is to provide a way for AMES (the national group of companies with the greatest international projection in the sintered components market) to be more independent from international suppliers and companies producing commercial compositions, to have its own identity by offering differentiated products of efficient production and to maintain an energy-sustainable technology aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Therefore, the objective of DAMAS is to search for new metal alloy compositions in powder form (master alloys), which, when incorporated into iron-based powders, are a source of sufficient alloying elements that modify the microstructure and are compatible with the company’s production lines. The processing feasibility will be considered in parallel with the composition design, and the microstructure generated will determine the final properties and in-service behaviour.

These compositions are known as master alloys. In addition, they can be formulated to provide a transient liquid phase during sintering that accelerates the diffusion mechanisms, thereby achieving a quantum leap in properties.
