B/E AEROSPACE Inc., worldwide leading manufacturer of aircraft passenger cabin interior products, has signed a three-year long R&D contract with IMDEA Materials Institute to to develop innovative materials for aircraft interiors based on advanced polymers and macroscopic fibres. The aim is to exploit the multifunctional properties of these fibres and their unique hierarchical structure to produce lighter aircraft structures with multifunctional capabilities. The project is led by the Multifunctional Nanocomposites group at IMDEA Materials Institute and developed jointly with IMDEA Energy Institute.
