IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to attract talented researchers from all over the world to Madrid to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment. The Institute counts currently with 111 researchers, including 16 Researchers, 4 Visiting Scientists, 29 postdoctoral research associates, 53 doctoral students and several master students from 16 different nationalities. It should be noted that around 40% of the researchers are foreign nationals while 60% of the PhD were granted by foreign universities. This international team with multidisciplinary expertise is contributing to establish IMDEA Materials Institute as an international reference in Materials Science and Engineering.
The researchers are supported by 7 Laboratory Technicians, 2 Instrument Scientists and the Management and Administrative staff, including an international Project Office.
IMDEA Materials Institute is a member of the EURAXESS Services network that has over 250 Service Centres located in 40 European countries. In Spain this network is coordinated by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – FECYT. As Local Contact Point (LoCP) the Institute is committed to giving personalized assistance to researchers and their families when planning to move to Madrid.
As part of its commitment to bring the best researching talent to Madrid, IMDEA Materials Institute endorsed in 2007 the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers that set out the rules and obligations of researchers, their employers and funders, as well as transparent and fair recruitment procedures. The Institute received the ‘HR Excellence in research’ award on 21/10/2015..
The result of this process is the IMDEA Materials Internal Analysis and Action Plan document.
