Funding for the acquisition of an X-RAY tomograph with a high-power tube and micrometric resolution.

The new X-RAY tomograph will be able to perform X-ray radiography and tomography inspections on medium-to-large test specimens (up to 300 mm in diameter and up to 500 mm in height) and achieve voxel sizes of ≈2 µm at maximum magnification. To this end, the system will be equipped with an X-ray source of at least 225 kV and a 4K flat-panel detector or similar with a pixel size of no more than 150 µm (preferably 100 µm).

The equipment will also be adapted to inspect multi-material components that combine low-absorbing materials (such as plastics) with highly absorbing materials (such as metals). The sample support platform will have a minimum capacity of 10 kg to accommodate both medium-to-large samples and various devices for in situ testing.
