The website 3Printr.com has reported on the development of a new experimental technique for fragmentation testing to assess the energy absorption capacity against impact of metal structures manufactured through 3D printing.
This research has been carried out by researchers from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in collaboration with scientists from the IMDEA Materials Institute and has resulted in a technique that is more flexible, simple, and quick than others currently in use.
