The report highlights a landmark year for IMDEA Materials, characterised by continued scientific excellence, institutional growth and new initiatives that are helping shape the future of materials science.
Among the Institute’s principal achievements in 2025 were a record 196 scientific publications and more than 10,500 Scopus citations, reflecting the growing international impact of our research. During the year, IMDEA Materials also secured €7.6 million in external funding, supporting 95 active research projects, including 43 international collaborations.
The report also documents the Institute’s continued expansion, including the growth to 19 research groups, the launch of the new Digitalisation & Artificial Intelligence research platform, and the opening of the IMDEA Materials Nova building, significantly strengthening our research infrastructure and capabilities.
In addition, the report highlights advances in technology transfer and innovation, including the launch of the Institute’s first Materialise Proof-of-Concept Programme, continued growth of the Floatech spin-off company, and ongoing collaborations with industrial partners.
