IMDEA Materials achieves ‘Human Resources Excellence in Research’ award renewal

IMDEA Materials’ commitment to providing a stimulating and favourable environment for researchers has been recognized with the renewal of the Institute’s ‘HR Excellence in Research Award’.

The HR Excellence in Research Award is granted by the European Commission and acknowledges institutions which make progress in aligning their human resources policies to the 40 principles of the European Charter & Code for the Recruitment of Researchers.

The award reflects IMDEA Materials’ dedication to continuously improving its human resource policies in line with the Charter & Code, notably the Institute´s dedication to achieving fair and transparent recruitment and a collaborative and flexible work space.

The Institute was first acknowledged as an HR Excellence in Research institution in 2015 and has maintained its status as such in the eight years since.

IMDEA Materials HR Manager, Rosa Bazán, said the award was recognition of the strides being made in making the Institute an attractive place to work for researchers from both home and abroad.

“The fact that many of our researchers are from overseas, away from their family and friends, makes it even more important for us to maintain a positive working environment where they can feel at home,” she said.

“The renewal of our HR Excellence in Research Award for the next three years shows that the efforts we are making in that regard are proving effective, which is very satisfying.”

The commitment of IMDEA Materials researchers, administration and technical staff to the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers was critical for the renewal of the award.

Some of the initiatives undertaken by the Institute in recent years in its HR Strategy for Researchers Action Plan include implementing a career advice and development plan, training on team management and leadership, and regular training in Health and Safety issues.
