IMDEA Materials will participate in two of the twelve CENIT 2010 projects awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation

This sixth edition of the CENIT programme, Strategic National Consortiums for Technical Research, has a total budget of 120 million Euros. 30 million will be granted each year to fund the 4-years projects during the period 2010-2013.

156 companies, of which 50,6% are SMEs, and 207 research groups, will participate to these 12 projects.

The goal of the CENIT programme is to fund large strategic industrial research projects with a long scientific-technical range, in strategic areas for the economy and with potential international outreach.

IMDEA Materials Institute will collaborate in the TARGET project (Intelligent technologies and environmentally sustainable to generate composite structures). In particular, IMDEA Materials activities will be focused on the development of 3D-textile reinforced composite materials with applications in aeronautic structures.

GAMESA INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY will lead AZIMUT project (Eolic energy offshore 2020) in which IMDEA Materials will also participate. In this case, the main goal of the collaboration will be to investigate in novel technologies of simulation to predict the mechanical behaviour of composite materials and structures of the aero-generator blades in order to improve reliability offshore.
