Prof. Javier LLorca, Director of IMDEA Materials Institute, has obtained the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant from the European Union. Prof. LLorca will receive € 2.5 million along the next 5 years to develop multiscale modeling strategies to carry out virtual design, virtual processing and virtual testing of advanced metallic alloys for engineering applications. This novel framework will allow the design, testing and optimization of new materials before they are actually manufactured in a laboratory.
