Strengthening industry collaboration and technology transfer through advanced materials innovation

IMDEA Materials Institute recently brought together leading industrial and research figures in Barcelona for its 8th Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meeting, focused on shaping future collaboration in advanced materials, AI-driven innovation and technology transfer.

The annual gathering featured high-level representatives from leading companies with a strong focus on R&D and technological breakthroughs, often through cross-sector innovation and collaboration with research centres, such as IMDEA Materials.

This year’s meeting focused on IMDEA Materials’ recent achievements and its strategic plan for the next four years, with particular attention to how the Institute can address major scientific challenges while responding to evolving industrial needs.

A key topic of discussion was how IMDEA Materials can support industry in de-risking, validating, certifying and adopting advanced materials technologies.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of building strategic partnerships and applying AI and data-driven approaches in a focused, reliable and impactful way.

In attendance were IAB members Pau Turón (BBraun), Łukasz Żrodowski (AMAZEMET), David Tilbrook (Hexcel), Iñaki Ulizar (RDT Ingenieros), Julia Lyubina (Evonik), Rocío Muñoz (HP), Nicolás de Abajo (ArcelorMittal), Ferrán Benitez (AMES), Diego Moñux (SILO Company) and Stephan Schunk (Hte-BASF online).

They were joined by IMDEA Materials’ Director Jon Molina, Scientific Director Javier LLorca, Deputy Director Damien Tourret, Technology Director, Miguel Ángel Rodiel, and Head of the Technology Transfer and Innovation Office, Germán Infante.

The Industrial Advisory Board is an initiative led by IMDEA Materials’ Technology Transfer and Innovation Office. Its primary goal is to bring together industry leaders with a broad overview of scientific and technological needs within their sectors to weave a solid network of contacts in R&D&I activities connected to the institute’s principal research lines.

IMDEA Materials would like to thank all those IAB members in attendance, as well as those unable to participate in person, for their invaluable contribution in driving the institute’s mission of transferring research into industrial innovation and societal impact.
