Three IMDEA Materials Principal Investigators included in CSIC’s ranking of female Spanish researchers and foreign female researchers in Spain

Three of IMDEA Materials Institute’s research group leaders have been recognised among the leading female researchers in Spain.

That’s according to the recently released ranking of active female researchers compiled by the Cybermetrics Laboratory of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The ranking includes Spanish female researchers, regardless of their affiliation, and foreign female researchers affiliated with Spanish institutions who have a strong scientific track record.

It features 11.000 profiles ordered according to bibliometric indicators (h-index and citation volume), obtained from publicly accessible and free platforms such as Google Scholar.

The IMDEA Materials researchers included on the list include Prof. María Teresa Pérez Prado, leader of the institute’s Sustainable Metallurgy group, Dr. Jennifer Patterson, head of the institute’s Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine group, and Dr. Mónica Echeverry Rendón, leader of the Biometals, Coatings and Devices group.

Dr. Elisa Fresta, who completed her PHD at IMDEA Materials from 2017 to 2020, was also included among the scientists named.

This recognition adds to the presence of IMDEA Materials in such rankings, with 12 of the institute’s researchers included in the most recent 2025 Top 2% Scientist Lists from Stanford University, including Prof. Pérez Prado.
